Apple has been granted a time limit till month’s end to report to Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency, informing them about the efforts to aware people in regards to the iPod Nano music players that might overheat and then ultimately, catch a blaze.
Yesterday, the agency demanded to see the report by 31st August, said an officer, Kiyomu Taki, at the Tokyo-based organization.
Previously this week, Apple updated its Japanese website, in order to offer a replacement scheme for all the music players that might overheat.
This move was taken after the Government made calls to the firm to take measures at preventing the devices from catching blaze. The firm had earlier offered to replace only the batteries of the devices.
Cupertino, which is an Apple subsidiary in California, also contacted the iPod owners, who registered email addresses, cautioning them of the perils, as stated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
There have been six cases of model Nano catching fire in the year 2005 that had been charged and were reported to the Government in the year 2008, as informed by spokesperson, Hiroshi Miyashita in the previous month.
This is for the second time that the firm has cautioned iPod Nano users about the danger.
