Queensland Health to Start a New Payroll System
Queensland Health to Start a New Payroll System

Health Minister Paul Lucas says that when 10,000 adjustments will be made to salaries every fortnight, then Queensland's health payroll will run acceptably well.

A massive number of Queensland Health's, 78,000 employees, were not paid suitably, were paid more, or not given any remuneration at all, according to a new system that was launched in March.

It was reported that over 16,500 payroll adjustments were made in the recent pay cycle, less than the previous one, where 18,883 adjustments had to be made.

Mr. Lucas said, "We want to drive those adjustments even lower. But there will always be adjustments in our pays, because we have people called in emergent situations, doing overtime or other things outside the roster”.

He added that it is not possible that the number will go down to zero, adjustments will always be there.

Mr. Lucas has said that in the latest pay cycle, it was seen that 82 Queensland Health employees did not get any salary. Also, after a new computer system was launched, there were 42,000 errors found in the pay cycle.

Queensland Health is coming up with a fresh local payroll system, called pay hub, to fix each and every hospital, by September 30.

It is anticipated that there will be an expenditure of minimum $4 million, to service the $20 million system.
