Ledger's family after due deliberations has concluded that the posthumously awarded Golden Globe, should go to Matilda, his 3-year-old daughter with actress Michelle Williams, who separated from him, a few months before Ledger's death.
As Heath's father watched the awards show with a 'bittersweet pride' from the late actor's family home in Perth, Australia, his mother talking to People magazine about the future of her son's award, stated: 'I should imagine that eventually it will be going to Matilda. It will belong to her because she is part of him.'
Heath Ledger, who died of an accidental drug overdose, prior to the film's release, won a number of posthumous accolades, including a Critics Choice award and will likely receive an Academy Award nomination, for his performance as the Joker in this latest of Batman flicks.
On being named the Best Supporting actor, Ledger received a standing ovation from the audience, as director Christopher Nolan accepted the award on behalf of the late actor.
