More and More U.S. Youngsters Taking to Botox Treatment

Shots of Botox, which is a muscle-relaxing toxin utilized to relax revealing signs of ageing in adults, is becoming a rage amongst the teenagers. It has been reported that in order to improve their looks, youngsters 18 and below are taking to Botox treatment.

This might be a shocking revelation but it’s true that the latest fad among the adolescents is Botox. American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) revealed that Botox has managed to leave other cosmetic procedures behind. According to the data by ASAPS, there has been a swell in the number of Botox treatments that are being performed on the teenagers in the U.S.

Today’s generation is a lot more conscious of their appearance, which is said to be the possible cause for this surge. They are ready to do just about anything to look good.

Famous personalities are often the role models for the teens, who look ultra-gorgeous with oodles of make-up on their face. In a chase to ape them and look as good as them, the teenagers undergo cosmetic treatment.

Little do the youngsters realize that there are risks involved if the treatment is not administered properly. One might get nerve paralysis that can lead to facial sagging, or slurred speech.

Dr. Shoib Allan Myint, a facial plastic surgeon in Las Vegas stated, “Botox can be dangerous if not regulated properly. Most teens are wrinkle free and Botox does not prevent natural aging. Unless there is compelling need, it should not be administered under age 18”.

In 2009, roughly 12,110 Botox jabs were extended to patients who were 18 years old and under.
