More and people have now become aware of the energy efficient solutions and ways to save money using them. People understand that there needs to be a decrease in the amount of carbon emission and these homeowners are ready to implement such solutions in their homes.
Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, says cost is one thing that really motivates people towards an effective change.
“If homeowners can understand that making a home more energy efficient is not cost prohibitive and returns can be made quite swiftly, then we may start moving towards a higher take-up of eco-home solutions”, he adds.
But as only a few people make it a point to renovate their houses for the implementation of such low carbon technologies, therefore, as Mr. Holmes says, there comes a difference between understanding and implementation.
The latest Home Remodeling and Repair Index have divulged that as much as 58% of the homeowners considered green options when renovating their homes, which altogether is a significant improvement. Double glazing and window replacements are being adopted by 82% of the homeowners.
Mr. Holmes also suggests that people opting for such green options must complete their work by understanding all the things and tools required for the job. And as such things are electrical, therefore, the plumbing section should be left for the experts.
He also recommended that the homeowners in the initial stage should commence with less challenging jobs.
