According to TechCrunch and Boy Genius Report (BGR), Apple would be giving the green light to the Verizon iPhone, expected to be launching in January 2011, to take a share in the iPhone market. This move, if true, would end the AT&T’s domination in the U.S. market. However, the rumors have not been confirmed by any side, yet.
What pushed the majority of the public users into believing the rumors to be for real was that Wall Street Journal has included a report, earlier, stating that AT&T’s iPhone exclusive deal would be ending soon. The report, which was issued last week, also noted that Apple is considering increasing its wireless competency.
Nevertheless, none of the rumors included a source that would be traced, although the two technology websites gave detailed news. TechCrunch Contributor, Steve Cheney, "Sources with knowledge of this entire situation have assured me that Apple has submitted orders for millions of units of Qualcomm CDMA chipsets for a Verizon iPhone run due in December".
For Boy Genius Report, no names were announced as well, yet adding that Apple would be preparing iPhones for Verizon-friendly CDMA networking instead of the GSM technology used by AT&T.
