It seems that Google is again stepping into the arena of social networking, tackling the challenge of Facebook's runaway growth; but ‘Google Me’ would not be able to pose much threat for Facebook.
However, Google has said in its recent statement that they are not planning to go for a social strategy that will make games and other social networking attributes into its existing products including mail, web browsing, search and its Android smartphone software.
Instead of that, the Company will prefer to standardize its existing products, which will make them more popular.
"The world does not need another Facebook. It needs the technologies around friends and relationships to be allied to everything", Google CEO, Eric Schmidt recently told the reporters.
As Facebook is focusing on increasing its membership beyond 500 million people with the help of its games like "Mafia Wars" and "FarmVille", Google has recently declared that it is going to buy a social entertainment Company called Slide, which is San Francisco-based.
Slide has created SuperPoke and other well-liked applications on Facebook and many observers are of the view that Google is planning to lure people with the help of social games, just the way Facebook used, games of Zynga to attract millions of users to its site.
