Schwarzenegger Says, "California is Showing the Way"

On Tuesday, with the establishment of California Telehealth Network, Telemedicine took a big jump in connecting patients and surgeons by means of ultra-modern techniques.

With this technology, a patient can consult a doctor even if he is sitting miles away from him.

Dr. Thomas Nesbitt, Director of the Center for Health and Technology for the UC Davis Health System said that it implies that it doesn’t make a difference where you are in the state; you will have the best of health care at your hand.

It is said that at first, 50 health centers, hospitals and other health care suppliers in California will sign up with the broadband network. And it is speculated that by the end of 2011, it might be able to connect almost 900 facilities across the state.

During a Tuesday ceremony at the UC Davis Medical Center, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was quoted as saying, "California is showing the way". He said that with the telemedicine network, California residents, especially the ones who reside in remote areas would be able to access the best of health services.

Schwarzenegger said, "It should not be a matter of how rich you are or where you live. We are celebrating the future of medicine, also known as telemedicine".
