Greg Wilkinson, Health Department Spokesman, has revealed that Alaska has confirmed at least two cases of salmonella infection, claiming that the infection has links with the recalled eggs.
The second major Iowa egg producer is claimed to have the possible links with the contaminated food that has resulted in sudden surge in the number of salmonella cases witnessed in the past three months.
As of now, it is not clear whether these cases are linked to eating eggs that were part of the massive recall made across the nation conducted by Iowa-based Wright County Egg over concerns that shell eggs retailed under various labels could have served as a base for salmonella contamination.
In addition, the state has recently reported a suspected case of salmonella infection in Girdwood. However, tests are yet to post the confirmation.
Authorities have reported over hundreds of cases linked to salmonella outbreak across the nation.
The nation witnessed a voluntary recall of 170 million eggs produced since April 9 by Hillandale Farms of Iowa on Friday. The call was made following epidemiologists in Minnesota associated its products to a salmonella outbreak in May.
The department has reportedly identified two product brands to bear links with the infection in Alaska.
