U.S. Government Urges People to Get Vaccinated Against H1N1

Federal health officers are urging Americans to get vaccinated against swine flu. The decision has been taken in the wake of H1N1 pandemic that killed thousands of people in 2009.

The U.S. Government is planning to invest around $2 billion for developing new medicines, vaccines, and other machinery in order to deal with the menace.

To meet the increasing demand of the vaccines, drug makers are producing around 160 million and 165 million shots this year, which is quite more than the previous times.

As per CDC report, in the year 2009, approximately 90 million doses of H1N1 vaccine and about 120 million doses of normal influenza vaccine were produced.

However, this time a 3-in-1 vaccine will be used to treat the virus. The CDC also wants that pregnant women, infants who are 6 months or older should receive an early dose of vaccine. The CDC also states that flu shot is essential for everyone.

The 3-in-1 vaccine will be used against two types A flu, which include seasonal flu and the H3N2 and one type B flu, which includes H1N1.

In order to encourage people to get flu shots, CDC is preparing to start a campaign in September called ‘Flu End with U’.
