15 Swine Flu Deaths Confirmed in NZ

The recent reports have claimed Swine flu death toll is soaring in New Zealand. Over 15 deaths have been associated to the H1N1 till now this year.

The footprints of pandemic influenza (H1N1) virus are widening in New Zealand for several weeks, The Influenza Specialist Group (ISG) reports.

Director of Public Health Mark Jacobs has pointed that the influenza H1N1 activity is on a high, with different infection rates emerging according to different geographic region.

The Ministry of Health today claimed that 11 of the deaths had been confirmed to have occurred because of H1N1 virus attack.

The five deaths reported since Monday, involve residents of Auckland and Waitemata district health board regions.

Now, with three new deaths confirmed for H1N1 infection at Auckland City Hospital, it has taken the net death tool of swine flu patient deaths there to four in 2010, outlined, Auckland District Health Board.

There had been over 583 cases admitted in hospitals confirmed for pandemic influenza H1N1 this year. However, out of them nearly 13 people are currently admitted in the intensive care.

However, there are a few regions in NZ such as the area of North Island were the infection rates are witnessed to be lower, but it is too early to discern whether it actually taken a downward path.
