Due to increased sales of Johnnie Walker whisky in Asia and the Middle East, the earnings for Diageo have been pretty good.

This year, the blended Scotch’s sales increased by 7% and the overall sales of other whisky like Lagavulin went up by 5%.

Paul Walsh, the Chief Executive of Diageo, said that the growth in developing markets has been more as compared to the sales in North America and European markets.

The Company’s organic operating profit has gone up by 2% to £2.75 billion in the past few months.

Diageo officials said that Europe still remains to be a challenging region, because of economic upheaval.

Walsh said that the growth is expected to be more in the current year. He further added that going global will strengthen the Company and will fetch it more revenue.

Diageo also produces Smirnoff vodka, Guinness beer, and Baileys liqueur, and the good sale of these brands has surged the profits by 13% to £2.24 billion.

Johnnie Walker scotch was the bestseller whisky and was deemed the ‘priority brand’. The Diageo authorities say that the Company’s ‘Walk with Giants’ advertising campaign helped in increasing its earnings.
