Bogus Callers Cases Re-emerge

The police of St. Ives is reported to have urged the local residents along with the people residing in the surrounding villages to remain extra watchful, as unwanted callers are reported to the grow flagrantly in the area.

Recently, numerous cases relating to bogus callers have been witnessed. The issue has cropped up as a menace for the localities, especially the elderly.

Police has reported to witness a spate of cases in the recent weeks, involving people calling at homes in the town making deceitful claims of talking from Talk Talk or BT.

A recent case involving an aged woman, residing in the Pine Road area of Todmorden, emerged as her doorstep last Friday claiming to have come from Todmorden health centre.

The caller initially jotted information of the women’s health issues and gave her medical advice, recommending her few medication and treatments. However, after that she asked her to reveal her bank account details in a view to take the payment. But, she declined to divulge them.

"I can assure people that Todmorden health centre has nothing to do with any private company offering health services. We are NHS and have nothing to do with private providers”, posted Practice Manager Tracy Wilson
