On Wednesday, Commodore USA declared that it would introduce PC64, an all-in-one keyboard computer, before Christmas. The appearance of the new device would be similar to Company’s original beige Commodore C64, but it would have upgraded features. The CPU of PC64 will be embedded with a dual-core Intel Atom 525, along with Nvidia Ion2 graphics.
It offers 4GB DDR3 memory, 1TB hard drive and a CD/DVD drive, which would come with an option of Blu-ray drive.
Apart from the above stated features, the PC64 provides HDMI-out, dual-link DVI, six USB ports, integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 6-in-1 media card reader. But the new device doesn’t possess the 5-inch capacitive multi-touch display, which is there in ASUS's keyboard.
No details have been revealed about the price of the new product.
Though Commodore USA planned earlier in March to restructure its older version, the problem was posed by Company’s Chief Executive, Barry Altman, who had already struck a licensing deal with Commodore Gaming. The patent rights of the brand are actually held by Commodore Licensing BV.
The PC64 would now be launched under the partnership of Commodore Licensing BV and Commodore USA.
Altman said, “Our reintroduction of this legendary form factor, combined with the world's most recognizable consumer electronics brand, is a once in a lifetime opportunity".
