Google and Oracle Not in Good Terms Yet?

Google announced that it would not be participating in the JavaOne conference that would be launched in San Francisco in September, as a result of the fact that the Company is currently going through a lawsuit against Oracle.

Oracle is the chief sponsor of JavaOne conference which, according to Google, would not allow the Company to expose their ideas regarding the development of java and the new changes that Google has been working on for the future of this program.

This would be the first time that Google would not be present at the JavaOne since its start in the year 2004.

Oracle filed a lawsuit against Google accusing Google of copyright and patent violations, as according to Oracle’s allegations, Google has been misusing the Java patents in their smartphones, which operate on Android. The General Counsel of Google, Kent Walker, commented on the lawsuit: “This action is not against Android per se but against any Java development not sanctioned by Oracle. The lawsuit is trying to put the genie back in the bottle”.

Despite Google’s claims that it developed Android and other software applications using its own Java tools and not the ones developed by Sun Microsystems, the lawsuit was not dropped.
