This weekend saw HTC Incredible owners receiving Android 2.2 Froyo, which was rolled out by Verizon Wireless.
Froyo offers 450% improvement over 2.1, native support for Flash 10.1, Apps2SD and cloud sync, Wi-Fi tethering and USB.
Right from the month’s start, the Nexus One, the HTC EVO 4G and Motorola Droid have been updated to 2.2. In addition to that, the Droid 2 has brought out the updated software that has been already installed.
Some other phones, like the Dell Streak, HTC MyTouch 3G Slide, Motorola Droid and Samsung Captivate all had promised a 2.2; however, no particular schedule has been spoken of.
It is expected that by the end of the week the rollout work would be complete.
The new OS takes 93.7 MB and offers added support for the new edition of Adobe Flash.
The best new feature that it offers is the capability to convert that phone into Wi-Fi hotspot.
The remaining names left to be updated with the new soldier in the field are the Droid X and all Samsung’s Galaxy S phones.
It is easy for Droid Incredible owners to update the phone. Just a few will be able to get hand on ii while Verizon works hard at offering it to all Incredible owners in the coming few days.
