Warning: Smog Gets Thick In Ontario

Environment Canada has issued another warning for the heavy prevalence of smog for the most of Southern Ontario region. While giving out the warning, Environment Canada has advised people not to involve themselves in heavy outdoor activity as it can possibly cause problems like coughing and shortness of breath.

The warning covers regions like, Waterloo and Grey Bruce and Belleville, Kingston and Kawartha Lakes as well. Environment Canada has also requested people to use public transport or carpool while travelling. The smog, which is caused by thick pollutant particles, has usually been seen to be caused by the pollution that comes into Ontario from the States.

People with respiratory problems have also been advised to take care of themselves as the thick presence of smoke could lead their condition to deteriorate, especially in Windsor where the pollution fuelled with the heat makes for the poor air quality.

Regarding as to when would it be likely for the smog to clear up, Geoff Coulson, Environment Canada meteorologist stated that, "There's not a lot of changes occurring over the next couple of days".

This year though has till now been a lot less difficult as compared to 2005 when there had been 13 warnings issued over 46 days in contrast to 2 advisories covering a span of 8 days.
