REVIEW: ‘Hotel for Dogs’ Is Cute

'Hotel for Dogs', is a cute film about dogs, who actually take over a rundown hotel for themselves. An adaptation of the children's book by the same name, 16-year old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her brother Bruce (Jake T. Austin), have long shuffled through a series of foster homes. Their latest temporary caretakers, played by Lisa Kudrow and Kevin Dillon, have little time for the children and use them to their advantage whenever possible.

Stumbling across the long-abandoned hotel, so full of dogs of all breeds and sizes, Andi and Bruce hustle to make it a better place, and from here cute and adventure begins to happen. Reality intrudes in the form of city officials and, perhaps, only a caring welfare worker (Don Cheadle), can possible help Andi and Bruce out of their latest mess.

The film's well-trained dogs get to be funny and adorably cute, even feigning emotions usually reserved for humans, and while adults find it soon begins to pall, children will like nothing better than to watch the antics of their furry friends, all the way through.

Full of mutts and mayhem, including Bruce's whacky contraptions to make life easier for his new friends, his clever inventions provide laughs and originality to the film. Slow in the beginning, but hang on as the film soon turns out to be a treat!
