The owners of the dog that had bit a man on Thursday afternoon on Peel Street have been successfully tracked down by Oxford’s health and emergency services department. The dog which was in a leash and was being walked by the owner of the dog had bit the man around 8:00 P.M on Thursday.
The health and emergency services department had earlier announced on Monday morning, establishing that it was seeking the dog that had bitten the man on Peel Street. The department had also announced that the dog was being walked by a man aged between 18-30 years old.
According to Elaine Reddick, Health Protection Supervisor stated that "it was important for the dog to be located as it had to kept under observation so as to ascertain that the dog has not been rabid, the dog did not show any signs of being infected initially and would be kept under observation for the following ten days”.
Now, though dog bites are very common it is important to know that dogs are not a threat, it is only when that a dog feels threatened that they tend to attack. It is also important to make a note that if a dog does come up to you, all you need to do is to stay still and let the dog sniff and pass.
