After months of coyly downplaying their engagement in tabloid print, the MTV reality show “The Hills” stars - Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt - tied the knot in a secret ceremony last week. Announcing news of their secret wedding to celeb blogger Perez Hilton Monday, Montag said: “The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying.”

The Montag-Pratt relationship has been a made-for-the-tabloids kind of story. Montag, 22, and Pratt, 25, have been inseparable since they began dating in 2006. In 2007, after an eight-month courtship, he proposed with a diamond encrusted platinum band set with a purple stone.

However, Montag imposed a “relationship vacation” after bickering over his wandering eye, resulting in now-on, now-off engagement status. The couple reunited this May a secret getaway to Mexico, where Pratt said Heidi read him Biblical passages like ‘Honor they wife.’

At the marriage ceremony, at Cabo San Lucas’ Palmilla Resort, the groom called his newlywed “the light in my life.” In fact, in his vows, Pratt, borrowing a page from “Jerry Maguire,” told Montag that she made him “feel complete.” The photos of the wedding will be in the issue of Us on newsstands.

However, the bride kept her parents in the dark - the nuptials were news to them. Bill Montag told People magazine that he would be “upset” if his daughter had gotten married without inviting him, and added that if the reports are accurate, “then we just have to have another wedding here!”
