Emmy-Winning Actor Patrick McGoohan Dies Aged 80

Patrick McGoohan, whose career spanned the stage, screen and TV, died Tuesday, aged 80-years at St. John's Health Centre in Santa Monica after a short illness. A two time Emmy Award winner, he starred as John Drake, a British special security agent working as a spy for the British Government in the 1960s TV series 'Secret Agent', and later went on to gain cult status as the star of the enigmatic series 'The Prisoner' that spawned fan clubs, conventions and college study.

McGoohan, who also starred in a number of films, from Ice Station Zebra to Braveheart, will always be known as The Prisoner to his TV fans.
