After experiencing a second kidney transplant, a strong-minded 16-year-old adolescent has managed to finish a fundraising event. It was only eight weeks that the teenager had gone under the knife.
Along with a medial crew and his father Rupert, James Kirby went out on the roads of Bath, for the 3K Organ Donor Run, on August 21.
Soon after his GCSE exams, Kirby, a Cavendish student from Victoria Drive, is recuperating at the Evelina hospital in London, who underwent a surgical procedure on June 26. The teen experienced breakdown of kidneys at the time of his birth. His entire babyhood was spent in paying frequent visits to the hospital.
Kirby was able to collect over £1,300 for the Children's Transplant Fund at the Evelina Children's Hospital, in London.
James, who recently secured 13 GCSEs at grade A* to C, told the Gazette, “I wanted to get people to recognize the donor list and get registered. It was a way of fundraising money for the hospital, so it was a way to thank them and the donor family”.
In order to express gratitude for the gift of life that James got, Rupert and James thought to spread awareness regarding the Organ Donor Register.
