Dundee Homes Would be Accessing Fibre Broadband Connection

As declared by Fibrecity Holdings, networking experts, it will be providing inhabitants of Dundee, Scotland with a fibre broadband connection. The residents will be able to access the service from early 2012.

As planned by Fibrecity, it would launch 13 more rollouts across the UK over the next four years that would serve at least one million homes.

The Company has already begun its networking process. As planned by it, most of the connections will be provided through waste water infrastructure, possessed by Scottish Water. Where the use of such sources would not be possible, other methods will be employed, which do not cause much interruption to roads.

The fibre broadband connection will provide upload and download speeds varying from 25Mbs to 100Mbs; also, the burst speeds up to 1Gbit/s will be delivered.

They had worked with Fibrecity's parent group i3 Group to plan the rollout, as stated by Will Dawson, Convener of Dundee City Council's city development committee.

He said, “Every council tenant will receive a letter from Fibrecity Holdings detailing when their home is about to be connected".

Presently, two ISPs -- Velocity1 and Fibreband -- have consented to work for the connections over Fibrecity's Dundee network. There is also provision of getting the broadband connection at no cost by applying to the Fibrecity Dundee network either online or calling at 0800 954 2020.
