The findings of a research undertaken are extremely disturbing and thought provoking at the same time.

The findings of the research bring forth that eating junk food is also one of the forms of addiction. In the wake of the findings, the scientists have warned gen X and their parents that just like the addiction of cocaine and heroin, junk food have also emerged as an item on the addiction list.

Though, the initial hint of the outcome was brought forth by American studies that carried out experiments on rats. In the studies, the scientists fed some rats on syrup and it was seen that all the rats exhibited changes in the brain and the behavior, which was the same as the rodents that were addicted to morphine.

Further, when the rats indulged in bacon, sausage, icing and chocolate, all the rats underwent changes in their brains that were drastically similar to the brains of the rats, which were hooked to cocaine and heroin.

The scandalous thing was that when these rats were subject to electric shocks to stay away from these foods, still the shocks were unsuccessful in keeping them away from the junk foods.

The findings are extremely significant when Britain and the US are trying to fight the rampant obesity. Further, New Scientist confirms that the researchers worldwide are also accepting that junk food can hook the people and become an addiction.

In the wake of the shocking outcomes, the scientists are urging that all the junk food Companies should place warnings like the ones on cigarettes, so as to contain the risk on the health of the people.
