Think Tank Recommends Establishment of Primary Care Organizations

A Not for Profit Policy Think Tank that was organized in Canberra by the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA) says that Regional Community and Primary Healthcare associations should be set up and resourced at Commonwealth level.

The Think Tank was backed by the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN). The AHHA is the highest national body that symbolizes public hospitals, area health services, community health centers and public aged care suppliers, as well as public dental services.

Executive Director of AHHA, Prue Power is of the view that the founding of local primary care groups is an important suggestion. These associations would be financed keeping in mind the requirement of the populace. If there is necessity for extra funding for special needs, it would be catered to.

More than 60 people from Primary and Community Health services throughout Australia were drawn in the Think Tank. They came up with suggestions for incoming Federal Government on reforms that were moving ahead in primary and community care.

Power feels that with the establishment of these groups, health services of patients throughout the health sector will get synchronized. Moreover, they would play a pivotal role in lowering health discrimination in these communities.
