White Rock Water Safe for Public Use

EPCOR Incorporation, the Alberta utility provider, announced on Wednesday to the news that the tap water in White Rock’s houses and commercial areas is now safe for public consumption, as EPCOR lifts the boiled water notice.

The 20,000 residents of White Rock are warned to run the tap water for a minute before using it. In addition, it is recommended that they would also get rid of the ice frozen in the fridges. There have been a public warning also regarding the color and the smell of the water, as experts said that water might undergo excessive treatment to ensure its safety. This water disinfection would last for some weeks, giving EPCOR some time to upgrade its system.

The notice lasted for less than a month starting on the 20th of August. The source of contamination has not been identified yet. However, it has been regarded that the reservoirs would be the most likely causes of contamination. EPCOR ensured that these reservoirs would go through examinations and disinfection, before being reused again.

Throughout the notice, no victims fell sick as a result of the contamination. The water supply is currently available for the residents of White Rock, at households and at manufacturing regions.
