British transport operator Go-Ahead is planning to expand their venture in school buses to twice the size it currently is, as the start of the venture has been on a promising note.
Go-Ahead Group PLC, who are the largest operator of buses in London have partnered with Cook-Illinois at the moment and are operating 120 buses in St. Louis, Missouri. Go-Ahead are further planning to raise the number of buses operating from 120 to 300 in the year 2011, Nick Swift, Chief Finance Officer, spoke over the phone in a telephonic interview.
Stocks of Go-Ahead rose by 6.1% to 1,154 pence and the trading rose up 6% by 11:34 A. M in London, England.
Go-Ahead's net income for the past 12 months that ended on July 3, rose up to 17.2 million pounds as compared to 6.3 million pounds for the year before. Go-Ahead have further stated that due to the reduction in fuel costs and acquisitions pumping in contributions, low profit margins will receive a boost for the better this year.
Go-Ahead has expanded operations in the U. S. A in order to reduce its reliance on operations in U. K. due to a grim outlook regarding Business in U. K.
Mr. Swift further stated that the operations that have been started in the U. S with Cook-Illinois do not involve much risk and would accordingly expand business with the passage of time.
