Zara Launches Online Stores in a Hope to Attract High Street Spending

A new online store is being introduced in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and the UK, by the Spanish clothing retailer and the fashion label, Zara. This renovated website will be offering some exclusive fashion lines that had been till now only available in its stores. The group website, earlier, used to offer just the home range.

This step has been taken by the label's owner Inditex, which is the world's leading clothing retailer. It has been taken with a threat that there might be a reduction in the High Street spending, as the consumer confidence is also fading, and the economy is projected to slow down further. Thus, the group has decided to step on the cyberspace, as it is viewed that the online fashion sales are still more flexible.

This online store is projected to captivate, if not much, then at least a youth squad of more than 4.5 million Facebook 'friends'. And this new step can also boost the sales of Zara by 10% per annum.

A charge of £3.95 will be put for the home delivery, or the items can be picked up for free from the shops.

Simon Chinn, Retail Consultant at Verdict Research said, "Zara's core customer base were 'a tech savvy bunch'. There is clearly demand for Zara product online".
