Labor: DHB’s Decision Concerning Cutting Home Help for Elderly a Failure Without

The Capital and Coast DHB’s decision, in relation to cutting home help for the elderly populace in the nation with no community services care, will be a total failure, as this is what Labor considers.

Winnie Laban, Aged Care spokesperson, said that the decision will cut help to almost 500 people in the Wellington region.

Stating her concern, she said that no home support for all those elderly who want to be independent in their abodes will only result in more number of accidents, in turn, which will lead to a big number of people landing at the hospital units for care and treatment.

Therefore, this means that DHB will end up shelling out added number of funds upon the care of elderly people since no home care will risk their lives of meeting with a number of accidents.

As per DHB, it offered home support and healthcare to no less than 3,000 people without charging a single penny from them.

The services comprised a variety like minor housework or chores, shopping and healthcare too.

This means that in future, only people with a valid Community Services card will get the household management support and not personal assistance support of any kind.
