The Leukaemia Foundation's Light the Night scheduled to be held at Sturt Park will have a regional adolescent girl, who struggled out of blood cancer, as one of its balloon ambassadors. The event is going to take place on September 4, at night.
The teenage girl, Nathan Stacey as examined with the lethal disease lymphocyctic leukaemia, when she was just 14 years old. The other ambassadors for the event are Nick and Sherri Kuerschner and Katie Maxwell.
The event is being specially run for the blood cancer patients to boost their morale. It would mark with the floating of gold, white and blue balloons in the local skies lit by the ambassadors. It is an effort to show blood cancer patients, a ray of hope.
Nathan has been appointed as a White Balloon Ambassador; Gold Balloon Ambassadors are Nick and Sherri Kuerschner, while Katie Maxwell has been selected as the Blue Balloon Ambassador. The other three chosen balloon ambassadors also survived blood cancer by facing a number of problems, being residents of rural regions. They shifted to Adelaide for their treatment.
The event is an attempt to raise money for the studies to be conducted on finding treatments or drugs against blood cancer. The money collected will also be used to provide free Leukaemia Foundation support services to patients and their families.
The support services include free lodging, transport, emotional support, monetary assistance and education.
