A father from MINYAMA wishes to see the Sunshine Coast’s new hospital be built at the earliest, post the claims regarding shortage of beds, as this could almost cost his son his arm.
Daniel Watson, a 25 year old had to get treatment for severe infection as an outpatient at Caloundra Hospital.
He had to be transported to the General Hospital for inpatient management in Nambour, which is after six days of infusions of medicines stretching for four hours, each day and no improvement could be seen.
Daniel’s father, Mal Watson is of the belief that the postponement was in direct link to the worsened condition of his son’s infection, which ultimately delayed his son’s recovery time.
He said that Daniel had been bitten by a female on his left forearm in the month of March, as he tried to settle an argument.
He took antibiotics after taking recommendation from his doctor. But, after a few days, the bitten area continued swelling, and it swelled up almost six inches in round shape. After he had been taken to Nambour hospital, he was recommended to undergo an operation immediately or else his arm had to be amputated.
