Online Apology by Chinese Oil Manufacturer for Surpassing Chemical Limit: Tainte

A Chinese cooking oils manufacturer, Jinhao Camellia Oil Corp., said that almost 42.5 tons of the products made by it, surpassed the limits of containing a chemical in its oil that can cause cancer.

Junhao, which is based in the southern region of Hunan, on its website reported that nine batches of the camellia oil manufactured by it was tainted with chemical benzo(a)pyrene that surpassed the level that is set by the regulators.

The firm as well issued an official letter of apology and informed that by now, it had recalled 11.15 tons of oil that had been sold out in the month of March and also, that an additional 22.36 tons was sealed in its storehouse, which was a move made by the regional Government.

No details regarding what happened to the remaining oil were divulged by the firm.

The nation has promised to improve the quality of food products that are manufactured in the nation, which is after appointing Vice Prime Minister, Li Keqiang as the Chief of a Commission in the month of February, who took over the responsibility to keep a check on the quality, as a baby formula in 2008 claimed lives of 6 kids prompted the move.

Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao ordered inquiries into the scandal of milk solution that caused the deaths of the kids, in March.
