The electrical glitch occurred at the Halifax hospital forced the doctors to postpone some surgeries and two restaurants of the hospital were also shut down temporarily, but now the problem has been fixed.
Operating rooms at the Halifax Infirmary building, which is situated at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, got affected by the electrical problem.
According to the Spokesman for Capital Health, due to some problems in the system, the generator power was interrupted. The air conditioning system cannot be run by the generators therefore; surgeries could not be performed in the hot operating rooms.
However, after the problem occurred, some effective measures have been put in place in the main electrical room, so that they would not face similar problem in the future.
Presently, the temperature of the Halifax area is very hot, soaring into the mid-30s, so the people at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre had to cope up with the 33.2 C temperature on Thursday. It was the hottest day in record of the city.
According to a Spokesman of the hospital, John Gillis, air condition overload might be the reason behind the electrical glitch. He also said that there was no hindrance in the care of the patients at the hospital.
