Vaccine Damage Payment Unit Says MMR Vaccine is not Harmful for Children
Vaccine Damage Payment Unit Says MMR Vaccine is not Harmful for Children

A boy named Robert Fletcher received measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine when he was an infant. After the vaccination, he became disabled and today even at the age of 18, he behaves like a 14-year-old boy. He needs someone’s help in order to walk and get many fits in a day.

When the incident came into light, the Vaccine Damage Payment Unit had to pay a compensation amount of £90,000 to his family. But the unit says that one case going wrong doesn’t mean that the vaccine is not safe to use.

The unit also said that this particular case is an exception and the case is nothing but a ‘temporal’ linkage between the boy’s brain damage and the MMR injection.

The unit further mentioned that Media is giving wrong reports regarding MMR vaccine.

Roberts’s parents have said that the compensation amount is very less as compared to the United States, where a boy got around $32 million after he got paralyzed from the waist down by the MMR vaccine.

They also said that the UK’s system needs some drastic amendments. According to them, it is the responsibility of the drug making Companies to pay for the damages. The taxpayers should not be harassed and genuine compensation amount should be given to the victim.
