HealthCare Needs Allied Activities: Senior Minister Goh

Senior Minister Goh at an event recommended healthcare facilities to work in an allied way, so as to tackle complex conditions effectively by forming multi-disciplinary teams and adopting latest methods and technologies.

Mr. Goh was the guest of honor at the gala dinner held at Shangri-La Hotel last night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of National University Hospital's (NUH).

Mr. Goh while addressing the function demanded the qualitative practices to be followed at healthcare facilities rather than focusing on quantitative aspects. He stated that it’s good that National University of Singapore and its other counterparts are making additions in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health, but the need of the hour is quality not quantity.

For making healthcare professionals apt, there are a number of training and education programs, including scholarships, residency program etc.

Applauding the NUH’s performance for 25 years, Goh said, "Just as NUH has blazed the trail as the first restructured hospital, it will do so again in showing how we can bring about real health benefits to our people".

But, he urged the healthcare professionals to work in a collaborative manner because the future of the healthcare depends upon comprehensive and integrated healthcare structure. The healthcare system demands the treatment given to a patient in an empathetic and supportive way, and for that more ethical approach is required.
