NITD609: One Shot Malaria Killer

The U. S. National Institutes of Health have announced that a miracle experimental drug for malaria has been developed. The experimental drug has been found to cure malaria in a single dose.

The drug which is capable of effectively combating two parasites which are responsible for causing malaria is known as NITD609. The deadly disease which is one of the biggest claimants of life in developing nations is caused by night-biting mosquitoes.

The drug was tested on mice. When administered, it attacked a parasite protein which was not targeted by conventional anti-malarial drugs and there was no need to administer another dose.

The new finding has won accolades from all corners of the medical fraternity; a drug like this would go a long way to combat the fatal disease of malaria across the world. NITD609 would also be able to lower the cost of medication for Malaria.

NITD609 would further reduce the time span of medication for a patient suffering with Malaria as it would need to be consumed just once as compared to the conventional drugs which are used these days that need to be consumed 1 to 4 times in a day for up to a fortnight.

The breakthrough science study had been funded by the Swiss nonprofit group, Malaria Venture, Wellcome Trust from U. K., U. S. National Institute of Health, Keck Foundation and Novartis.
