At PAX 2010 in Seattle, the Bungie team delivered a presentation of the forthcoming Xbox title “Halo: Reach,” scheduled to launch on September 14. The presentation included the history of the “Halo: Reach” development, its story, characters, maps, and campaign.
The presentation, which opened with a video titled “From the beginning,” showed that the development of “Halo: Reach” began in October 2007; and there were initially only four people on the team.
About the setting of the game, the Bungie presentation showed that it has a backstory, a population, a history, and the grand panoramas that the series is famous for. As such, overall, there apparently is a notably “lived in” feel to the world that the gamers would be exploring.
However, so far as the history of Planet Reach is concerned, it orbits a very real star, Epsilon Eridani; and has a 27-hour day, and a 390-day year. With the missions being fairly short, most of the details have neatly been taken into account.
The “Halo: Reach” players will have three distinct geographies to explore - boreal, badlands, and temples. In addition, the diverse architecture to be explored will include rustic pioneer areas as well as industrial districts, and “hyper-urban” maps.
Furthermore, in an attempt to make the players get the feel of a Spartan, Bungie has ensured a very “war reporter” style of camera work, the development of which was a consequence of the use of motion capture work for the cinematics.
