Wiltshire Council has ordered the residents of Trowbridge to take their bins up to 100 yards at the end of a chuckholed road.
The council says that the Clarendon Road area, where mostly old people live, is full of cracks and they can be dangerous for the truck drivers and binmen. It also said that the potholes can also damage the tyres of the lorries.
The elderly residents say that it would be difficult for them to take the bins on the potholed roads, particularly during winter, as there are no street lights in that region.
After receiving a lot of complaints, the council assured the residents to resolve the matter by holding a meeting with the bin contractor, Focsa.
People want that their bin should be collected from outside their homes. They say that most of the people are old and physically weak and it’s not possible for them to drag their bins on a road, which is full of holes.
One of the spokespersons of Wiltshire Council stated that the council is concerned about the safety of the residents and will keep their viewpoint in mind, while finding a solution to this matter.
The spokesperson also mentioned that until the matter is resolved, the bin collectors will collect the bins from outside the homes.
