Man Who Jumped out of the Ambulance Suffered Internal Injuries

A man, who dashed across the Mitchell free way after jumping off the ambulance, has suffered internal injuries and a broken leg, last night.

The man was hit by a taxi, after he jumped towards the oncoming traffic. At about 11 pm, the man, 60, was transported from his home to the hospital.

The ambulance was running on the north of the Karrinyup Rd offramp, when the old man became restless and nervous and jumped out from the back of the vehicle.

In order to calm down the patient, the driver pulled over the ambulance in the emergency lane. After being hit by the taxi, the man was then transported to the Royal Perth Hospital with the help of a waiting ambulance.

According to a Spokeswoman of Police, Ros Weatherall, to transport the patient to the hospital, a St. John ambulance reached outside his house at about 11pm and on the way to the hospital, he became aggressive and jumped out of the ambulance.

When the driver tried to control him by steering the ambulance on an emergency southbound lane, he escaped from the vehicle and started running across the lanes, when he was struck by a taxi.
