Suicide has come out to be the second most likely cause of death among the youth in America. Suicide has been accounted to claim 1.3% deaths of the total number of fatalities annually recorded in America.

According to Joe Hamilton, Mental Health Councilor, the best way to fight tendencies of suicide is by talking and taking out the angst and depression that has been wailing inside the mind of the person who is suffering with depression and is more likely to harm himself.

He further stated that talking to a person who is eager to listen to problems of the person is the best way to relieve oneself. It has also been found that people tend to get nervous while bringing up the issue of suicide as to them it could be embarrassing as well.

A few signs that can be found in someone who might be contemplating suicide are signs of killing or hurting oneself or another, an increased intake of drugs or alcohol, huge swings in mood and the person in question engaging in irresponsible and irrational behavior.

Another symptom of someone likely to commit suicide would be withdrawal from social circles and even insomnia.

The best answer to anyone who feels like hurting themselves is to get help; there are many self-help groups, hotlines and internet websites available to assist people out there.
