NSPCC Launches Big Bike Ride

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, known as the NSPCC, is launching a fundraising event on Monday, which targets providing £400,000. These funds would be allocated to the country’s helplines, which are ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline. The help lines offer their services throughout the 24 hours of the day, all week long.

The event would be held at The Alveston House Hotel, under the name of Child's Voice Appeal. The event would include a breakfast and a cycling race, called 2010 Big Bike Ride.

Lucy Hale, the Project Manager of Big Bike Ride, expressed her joy that she is part of such an event and she wants everybody to share this joy. She said, “Organizing your own Big Bike Ride could not be easier and we encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part. Any distance makes a difference to children and young people who are dealing with the trauma of abuse.”

Through this huge event, the NSPCC intends to help the children and young people all over the UK and protect them against violence by providing them with the needed services.

Since 2008, when the helplines coming into action, they helped more than 2,918 children to find a better living and to increase their awareness regarding their rights as members within their community.
