No Bull, Deng, Rose ice Cavs in OT

Los Angeles - Though temperatures plunged to sub-zero in Chicago, Luol Deng and rookie Derrick Rose heated up the Bulls.

Deng scored 22 points, including back-to-back three-pointers in overtime, and the Chicago Bulls took advantage of an ailing LeBron James to ice the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers 102-93 on Thursday night.

"We wanted this game bad," said Rose, the league's top draft choice, who finished with 16 points and six assists. "We came out, we played hard and came out with a win."

James had 28 points, but made just eight-of-28 field goals, to go along with 14 rebounds, seven assists, and a season-high eight turnovers for the Cavaliers (30-7) who fell one-half game behind the idle LA Lakers for the league's best record following their third loss in the last 13 games.

"This was my worst game of the season," James said. "I was sick, and when I get sick I miss layups and put-backs. I had no lift in my legs. It's tough out there when you can't breathe. But they did a good job defensively on me."

Mo Williams added 26 points, and Delonte West finished with 11 before leaving late in the first quarter with a fractured right wrist, and required stitches above his left eye in a nasty collision while trying to block Rose's layup.

"I do not know how long I will be out," West said. "They have scheduled a MRI (magnetic resonance imaging scan) for me tomorrow. I will just try to support the young guys from the bench until I get back."

After Rose hit two free throws with 17 seconds left to knot the game at 87, James launched a potential game-winning 21-foot jumper, but it banged off the back of the rim, sending the contest into overtime.

The Bulls opened on a 12-1 run to take control. Rose started it with a conventional three-point play, and Kirk Hinrich hit a three- pointer to go ahead 93-87.

After James split a pair of free throws, Deng, who entered the contest with only four three-pointers on the season, drilled his first wide-open triple from the left corner.

His second bounced high in the air before dropping through, pushing the lead to 99-86 with 2:22 remaining, and the Bulls avoided a four-game season series sweep.

"This makes us feel good, but we can't be happy and satisfied off this," Rose added. "We need to build a streak."
