‘Paint The Town Pink’ Campaign Organized for Breast Cancer

A campaign has been organized by Grimsby’s Pink Rose Appeal for raising funds for breast cancer research. The name of the campaign is ‘Paint The Town Pink’. According to the charity, this is a yearly event and in the year
2009, the campaign managed to generation almost £15,000 for breast cancer.

The event got the support of many local business community and other fundraisers in the area.

The 28-year-old Vicky Wren said that her mother died of breast cancer and she is charged up to take part in the campaign. She also wants to increase awareness in the society about the breast cancer disease.

The charity has requested more and more people to join the Team Pink and help in making the event successful than before.

Grimsby's breast cancer unit, which is considered the best in the United Kingdom, has been able to come up with a high-tech treatment unit from the money collected from the fund.

They were expecting around £250,000 from the donations, but got an overwhelming response from people and went ahead of the expected target.

Leslie Donaldson, who is a known breast surgeon, said that if the money will keep pouring in like that then more state-of-the-art equipment will be purchased from the donated money.
