A Norfolk woman, named Vera Cruickshank is very upset that many of her family members have lost their lives because of different cancer diseases.
The 50-year-old woman came from Australia to Norfolk in the year 2000. She said that her grandmother passed away from ovarian cancer. She lost her first husband, Murray Fitzgerald, when she was in her late 20s. He died of lymphoma, bone, and liver cancer.
Recently, she came to know that her stepson, Angus has also being diagnosed with a rare and terminal form of cancer. He is just 38 years old.
Angus works in Navy, has three children, and loves to do a lot of exercise and stay fit. When Vera came to know that despite leading a healthy lifestyle, her stepson has become the victim of a deadly cancer, she was completely shattered.
Angus is presently getting treatment for a primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET).
Mrs. Cruickshank said that she is all the more sad because she might not get a chance to meet her son, although she is in touch with Angus through Internet.
Mrs. Cruickshank is a great supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support’s national ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. She hosts coffee morning in order to raise funds for cancer.
In the year 2009, as many as 43,000 official coffee morning events were organized and almost £7.9 million was collected for the charity. This year, Macmillan’s target is £8 million.
