The tussle between IT giants, HP and Dell over acquiring 3 Par Inc finally came to an end when HP was able to overpower Dell's offer and took over the storage company.
HP had to pay $2.35 billion for this takeover. The battle had been going on for weeks and finally when Dell pulled out itself, it finally came to an end.
HP as like Dell has been eyeing 3Par, which also has a good hold in cloud computing, because it feels that this will help it in converging infrastructure strategy and aid storage market growth.
Dave Donatelli, executive vice president and general manager, of HP's enterprise servers, storage and networking arm said that the HP and 3Par combined will accelerate HP's Converged Infrastructure strategy, thus help it in providing the best to its clients.
The deal will also create long-term value for the stakeholders of HP and 3Par.
3Par said that it had terminated its merger deal with Dell since it was paying less that HP. Dell will now be paid $72 million as the termination fees. In that way, it is not a complete loss for Dell.
