The recently-released Nike+ GPS app for the iPhone allows the users to find out how far and how fast they run, sans the need of any special sensors or kits which are the key requirements of the already-available Nike+ app.
The $1.99-priced Nike+ GPS app, now available at Apple’s App Stor, makes use of GPS technology as well as accelerometer to keep track of the distance that a user has run as well as the speed. In addition, the app also visually maps the run routes on Google Maps; thereby enabling the users to find out where they went for a run, and the exact points at which they slowed down their pace.
Since the new Nike+ GPS app works with GPS functionality, it can be used on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4; and the iPod Touch’s second- to fourth-generation models.
Some of the other features that the Nike+ GPS app boasts include voice feedback; and integration with the popular PowerSongs feature from other Nike+ apps that allow users to setup and play specific songs for different kinds of runs.
Furthermore, the app also features synchronization with Nike’s online community, Nikeplus.com, which has grown to more than 3 million members since its 2006-launch. Users can use the site to set challenges as well as track and share their progress through Facebook and Twitter.
