Ninewells established in 1983 is Scotland’s first hospital, which offers such treatment and care. There is a referral service for patients from Tayside, Fife, Forth Valley and Western Isles health boards. Along with that, it also offers services to self-funded patients.

The expenditure for the restructuring of the unit amounted to £3.8million. The Dundee hospital ran a health project worth £14.8million, of which, this new extension and repositioning of the nuclear medicine unit are a part of.

Under the redevelopment project, the hospital’s assisted conception unit will shift from ward 33 and is likely to get finished by September 2011. The work on medicine unit will commence in September and will get completed by summer 2012.

Gerry Marr, NHS Tayside Chief Operating Officer inaugurated the renovation work. He expressed his joy over the up gradation of the assisted conception unit, which would be a boon for many.

The collaborative efforts of Frameworks Scotland and Morrison Healthcare will realize the framed up gradation.

Mike Keith, Managing Director of Morrison Healthcare stated that it was a matter of sheer content that they were a part of this project.
