Trekking to Raise Funds for Cancer Charity

n order to raise money for a cancer charity, a casino manager has planned to organize a poker tournament that would involve trekking to the top of Mount Snowdon, covering 3,500ft.

The Manager of Grosvenor Casino in Cardiff Bay, Ben Ford, 31, has desired to pool in more than £10,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by gathering support from his counterparts. The casino has been working with this charity organization for a year.

Earlier, they had thought of organizing a ‘high-stakes’ poker tournament in one of their meetings, which is not likely to take place, as told by Ford.

As planned, Richard Parks, fellow adventurer and former Welsh International rugby player will take up a 737 challenge for the charity that includes reaching the top of seven peaks and roaming North Pole and South Pole within a time period of seven months.

Ford added that though he had not exercised properly for ten years, he was enthusiastic for the challenge and said that he would pass every obstacle to work for a cause. He applauded the nurses at Marie Curie, who serve people with care.

He said, “It’s great to know that every £20 we raise from the challenge will pay for an hour of nursing care in a patient’s home”.

In the whole year, the casino and its customers would contribute worth £200,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
