People suffering from dementia can follow a comfortable life, only if family members and people related to the person are able to identify the early symptoms of the deadly disease.
According to the Health Promotion Board (HPB), there could be a remarkable difference in the quality of life of a person who suffers from dementia, if the family members are able to identify early signs of the fatal disease and take actions accordingly.
A patient, who is a victim of dementia, Tan Ewe Hoon discovered that he has dementia eight years ago. Though, eight years down the line, his wife Emily Tan, 80, has been able to find ways to keep her husband from causing trouble to both him and her.
According to Mrs. Tan, Mr. Tan likes to wake up in the dead of the night and looks for things in closets and drawers. Mrs. Tan in order to counter his dreaded problem, made a separate room for Mr. Tan to ransack and play with, and thereon, life has been better for both Mr. and Mrs. Tan.
Health Promotion Board’s campaign would also be featuring a film by Royston Tan, a local director.
According to Royston, he was influenced for the film by a friend’s grandfather, who used to run a business, which involved the selling of chickens, and is currently suffering from dementia.
