Mobile operator firm O2 has made extra efforts to update its well known HTC Desire smartphone to Android 2.2. This step has come up immediately after O2 updated its Dell’s Streak to Android 2.1; but it seems as if the firm has done these jobs in a great hurry, because the users are facing a lot of trouble with the updates.
There are many who are reporting errors in this botched update, like some faults in the browser calls and also in the ‘bricked’ phones. This upgrade is leading to freezing of phones and is showing various other problems, while the updates are installed in the phone, including the crashing of the browser. Yet there are many users, who haven’t faced any kind of problem.
Looking at so many complaints from numerous punters, O2 now feels that it should no more focus on upgrading, rather fix up the present problems first.
Tech Radar, O2 Spokesperson said, “While many have been able to download it successfully, we have had a small number of reports of customers having problems installing the software, which we are looking into”.
If today, the Android 2.2 is selling in the market, it is because of the fact that it is being backed by Adobe's Flash software. This makes it a rather more desirable software upgrade.
